Platform overview

Everything runs under one domain. Each audience has its own portal on a subdomain, and one account works across all of them:

  • Marketplace — browse game listings and play browser games at edu.games. Games open at edu.games/play/<game>.
  • Teacher Portal — classes, licences, and Insights at teacher.edu.games.
  • Student Portal — your assigned games and class membership at student.edu.games.
  • Institution Portal — teachers, organisation-wide licences, and settings at institution.edu.games.
  • Developer Portal — upload, review, and manage games at dev.edu.games.
  • LRS — the xAPI 1.0.3 Learning Record Store at lrs.edu.games, where every game records progress.
  • Docs — this site, at docs.edu.games.

How the pieces fit together

A teacher (or institution) picks games from the marketplace and assigns them to a class. Students join that class with a code and see the games on their dashboard. As they play, each game sends xAPI statements to the LRS, and teachers explore that data through Insights. Paid games are licensed per seat, per year — see Buying Games & Licences.
