FOR TEACHERS

Getting Started

The Teacher Portal at teacher.edu.games is where you create classes, license and assign games, and read what students’ play tells you. This page gets you from registration to your first class.

Create your account

Register at edu.games/auth/register, choose Teacher, and enter your school name along with your details. Teacher accounts are eligibility-checked so that only educators can see student data:

  • Academic email (for example a .edu, .ac.uk or .edu.au address) — approved automatically. Confirm your email and you’re in.
  • Any other email — the form asks you to explain briefly why you don’t have a school address, and your application is reviewed by hand. You’ll be emailed when it’s approved.

You can also sign in with Google or Microsoft. Sign-in options are covered in Accounts & Signing In.

A tour of the portal

  • Dashboard — a strip of Insights thumbnails, counters for My Classes and Games Assigned, and Quick Actions to Manage Classes or Browse Games.
  • Browse Games — the catalogue. Search by title, filter by subject, open a game for its gallery and details, Preview Free paid games before buying, and buy seats. See Buying Games & Licences.
  • My Games — every licence you hold, with seats used, renewal dates and a Manage button for subscriptions.
  • My Classes — create classes, share their codes, assign games and see who has joined. See Managing Classes.
  • My Institution — shows the school or district you belong to, if one has invited you. Institution membership lets your school license games for your students and see your licence usage.
  • Insights — 22 preset charts built from students’ play, from participation to misconceptions. See Insights.

Your first class in four steps

  1. Create a class under My Classes and share its 6-character code with your students. They join from their own portal — there are no invitation emails to send.
  2. Pick games. Free games are ready to use; for paid games, buy seats from Browse Games. Seats are shared by students across all your classes, one seat per student.
  3. Assign games to the class from its page. Licensed games reach your students automatically; assigning is how you add free games and curate what each class sees.
  4. Open Insights once students have played. Until they have, switch on sample data to see what each chart will look like.

Working with a school

If your school has an institution account, an administrator can invite you by email. The invitation is tied to your account email and expires after 7 days; accepting it lets the school license games that cover your students and see your licence usage, without changing your classes. Details are in For Institutions.

Privacy: you only ever see data for students in your own classes, and only from games assigned or licensed through you. How long play records are kept is described in Data Retention & Privacy.
