Assigning Games
Assigning a game to a class puts it on every member’s My Games dashboard. Assignment and licensing are separate steps: assigning decides who sees a game, a licence decides who can play a paid one.
Finding games
Open Browse Games. Use the Search games… box or the subject filter, then click a card for the full details: gallery, description, studio, age range, subjects, price, and a View listing ↗ link to the public page. Free browser games have a ▶ Play button; paid ones offer ▶ Preview Free, so you can try the whole game yourself before spending anything.
Assigning to a class
- Open My Classes and click the class.
- In Assigned Games, choose a title from the Select a game to assign… dropdown. It lists every published game in the catalogue, sorted by title, minus those already assigned.
- Press Assign. The game appears in the list at once, and students in that class see it the next time they open My Games.
Repeat for each class that should have the game. Assignment is per class, so two classes can have different sets of games.
Free games, paid games and seats
A free game needs nothing more: assign it and students can play.
A paid game is licensed per seat, per year. Buy seats from Browse Games (see Buying Games & Licences); a licence you hold shows the game on all your students’ dashboards automatically, whether or not you have also assigned it. The first time a student plays, one seat is claimed for them permanently. Seats are shared across all your classes — one seat per distinct student, first come, first served — so if 20 students in your morning class and the same 20 in your afternoon class play, that uses 20 seats, not 40.
You can assign a paid game without a licence, but students who open it are told “This game needs a seat licence”, and once your seats are used up they see “All purchased seats for this game are taken. Ask your teacher to buy more seats.” My Games warns you when a game is down to five seats or fewer.
Desktop games
Games with a Windows build show a Windows label on the class page. They are always seat-licensed, and students need a one-time launcher setup — point them to Desktop Games & the Launcher. Once such a game is assigned, an Executable Game Seats panel on the class page shows sessions in progress.
Removing an assignment
Press Remove next to a game on the class page. It leaves that class’s list; if the game is still covered by one of your licences it remains visible to students through the licence. Nothing already recorded is deleted — the play data stays available in Insights, and any seats claimed stay claimed for the licence term.
Trying a game as a teacher
The ▶ Play link beside each assigned game opens it in a new tab. Playing as a teacher never consumes one of your seats, and your own plays are not mixed into your students’ Insights.
