FOR TUTORS

For Tutors

A tutor account lets you use edu.games with the students you teach privately — no school, class code or academic email needed. Each student is linked to you by an invitation that their parent (or the student, if an adult) accepts.

Getting started

Register at edu.games/auth/register with the Tutor role, confirm your email, and sign in at tutor.edu.games. There is no approval step: a tutor account sees no student data at all until an invitation is accepted. The sidebar has Dashboard (active students and pending invitations at a glance), My Students, Browse Games and My Games.

Adding a student

  1. Open My Students and find Add a student.
  2. Enter the Student name and the Parent email.
  3. For an adult learner, tick This student is an adult (18+) — send the invitation to them directly; the field becomes Student email.
  4. Press Send invite.

The recipient gets a single-use link that expires after 7 days. It appears under Pending invitations with its expiry date and a Revoke button until it is accepted. When a parent accepts, they enter the child’s email: an existing student account is linked, or a new one is created and the child is emailed a link to set a password. Either way the student then appears in your table with name, email and join date. See For Parents for what they are shown.

Games and seats

Browse Games works as it does for teachers: preview any browser game free, and buy seats for paid games priced per seat per year, either auto-renewing or for a fixed term. Checkout requires at least one linked student (“Add a student before buying seats”). Seats cover your linked students first come, first served, one seat per student, and a licensed game shows on every linked student’s dashboard automatically. Full detail is in Buying Games & Licences.

My Games has three parts: Assigned Games, where you Choose a game… and press Assign to add free games (or curate the list) for every linked student, with Remove to take one off; Owned Games; and Seat Licences, showing seats used and renewal dates. Assignments apply to all your students together — there are no classes in the tutor portal.

Removing a student

Press Remove in the students table. The link ends immediately: the student stops seeing your games and you stop seeing their progress. Any seat they claimed stays counted against the licence for its term.

What parents control

The parent’s acceptance is the consent for the tutoring relationship, and it is theirs to withdraw. From My Children in the parent portal they can press Revoke access at any time; the student leaves your roster and you no longer see their progress. You are not notified separately — check My Students if a student disappears.

Students play exactly as they would in a school class — see the student guide. How their play data is stored and for how long is described in Data Retention & Privacy and the Privacy Policy.
